Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) with low loss, high efficiency and simple structure advantages, and the characteristics of the specific wavelength reflection and the sensitivity of the multiple physical quantity. Become the most mature and widely used in optical fiber technology, and Weak FBG Array is multiple FBGs which have same center wavelength and weak reflectivity were written in a fiber, this structure can break through the traditional fiber Bragg grating sensor single point sensing limitations, using optical time domain reflection technology(OTDR) to realize the quasi distributed sensing. At the same time with the Weak FBG Array structure can be used for the fabrication of fiber random laser, to reduce the volume and enhance the performance of the fiber laser. Therefore, with the Weak FBG Array has broad application prospect and the research value, has become a hot spot in recent years and the direction of research and industrialization.This paper based on the Weak FBG Array application value and the prospect of research, to efficient and flexible production of the Weak FBG Array as the goal, starting from the principle of fiber Bragg grating inscription, design and production of the a practical automation the Weak FBG Array writing system, research and discusses the characteristic and application of the Weak FBG Array.In this paper, we survey the fiber Bragg grating lithography technology development, briefly discusses the grating of the theoretical basis and the fiber Bragg grating in multiple areas of optical fiber sensing, fiber laser applications. This paper introduces the structure and characteristics of the Weak FBG Array, and its unique advantages and characteristics in practical engineering applications.The Weak FBG Array inscription system hardware design are studied and discussed, design and construct of the a suitable and reliable system platform. In order to meet the need for automation of fiber Bragg grating inscribed, new fiber Bragg grating inscription platform is designed and in the platform device has precision mechanical guide rail and a power device to drive the system, complete the fiber Bragg grating inscription process.Simultaneous linkage laser and spectrometer to achieve efficient operation and automatic control of the system.Based on The Weak FBG Array inscription system software design research and discussion, the LabVIEW development platform developed for Windows systems writing system control software. By controlling the software can easily and efficiently control the mechanical structure, laser and spectrometer writing platform for software to drive multiple hardware joint operation, can make writing fiber gratings by a key operation, and automatically complete fiber grating writing.Based on The Weak FBG Array inscription system produced the Weak FBG Array simulation theory, and compared with the measured spectrum. Experimental study of the temperature characteristics of the fiber grating array and select FBG sensing array of practical application in the field of laser and random fields.
