The Master paper is coming from the National Natural Science Fund Project (51275149). The project is intended to construct a large-space coordinate measuring system which is made of several laser range finders and use it to measure geometrical parameters of heavy equipment. Due to the fact that measured objects of this system are mainly single and large-scale, their measured points are in the uneven distribution and have the variety of accuracy requirements. It is likely to miss key points or make the system inefficient if people make the measuring instruments aim at measured points manually in the measurement. What’s more, it will be a waste of measurement stations if these stations are arranged regularly. To avoid these above problems, it is necessary to build a flexible guiding and positioning network for coordinate measuring, which is used to guide instruments to aim at the target automatically based on wireless sensor positioning technology. Therefore, the task of this paper is to build a wireless sensor positioning network to measure space coordinates of measured targets first. Then these coarse results will guide laser range finders to aim at target stations in order to position them more accurately and efficiently. And the errors of coarse results should be less than 25mm because the cooperative object of the target station is a ball whose diameter is about 50mm. The main contents of this paper are as follows:(1) It summarizes the current situation of the domestic and foreign research on wireless sensor positioning networks and the structure of several current positioning networks first And the main contents of this paper are explained in details combined with the requirements of its task;(2) According to the principle and model used by this article, it puts forward the theoretical formula of positioning accuracy. After the research on the relationship between layout parameters of measurement nodes and positioning accuracy, a method of building a flexible network is put forward.(3) The hardware system of the network which includes master nodes, measurement nodes, target nodes and a wireless communication network among them is developed.(4) The measurement and control software system of the network is developed. The center controlling module, working modules of measurement and targets nodes and the wireless communication module are all included.(5) Experiments about what effects space angles between nodes have on measurement accuracy are carried out The error correction formula is put forward after experiments. Then it verifies the validity of the method of building a flexible network. At last, the actual accuracy of the positioning system is demarcated.
