With the development of science and technology and the popularization of electronic equipment, the data in the internet is rapidly growing. Data generated over the past ten years are now more than one or two years of data. Data growth has brought a lot of problems, the storage problem is the key. Data storage is accompanied by data growth and development, we met the need of data growth through the transform of storage device. However, with the inflation of data, it is difficult to support a large amount of data. As a new storage method, cloud storage is a good solution to solve the storage and management of massive data. Cloud storage not only reduces the operating costs of enterprises, but also improves the security of data by exploiting the cheap storage devices to store the redundant massive data. Therefore, it is the main mea ns to deal with the data growth crisis for the domestic and foreign enterprise and research institutions by buiding a cloud storage system.The main work of this thesis is to implement a cloud storage system on the improved MooseFS. First of all, the thesis will briefly introduce the background and research status of cloud storage technology. Then the thesis will study and analyze the related knowledge, including cloud storage, file system, MooseFS architecture and working principle and load balancing technology. Then the thesis will improve the load balancing algorithm of Moose FS and add transfer mechanism. In addition, the thesis will compare the improved algorithm with the original algorithm on the load distribution and the system performance. Then the thesis will design and implement the load balancing algorithm and the transfer mechanism. Based on the improved MooseFS, the thesis will design and implement the user access module and the administrator moinitoring module. At last, the thesis will test the system on the function and performce. After testing, the cloud storage system based on the improved MooseFS functioned well, and had higher rate of file reading and writing, and can meet the needs of SME on production and life.
