Rapid Variant Design(RVD) can enhance design efficiency and design quality of products, RVD technology has been widely used in the economic globalization world. In this thesis, Taking RVD of Automatic Lid Opening and Closing Device(ALOCD) as research object, possible design defects in the process of RVD are analyzed. The verification techniques including motion interference detection, dimension constraint conflict resolution and Virtual Simulation are studied deeply and systematically in this thesis.Based on the parameterized model of ALOCD, a database table is created, RVD is realized by ADO database access technology, possible design defects in the process of RVD are analyzed. For motion interference design defects, kinematic simulation and interference detection are conducted automatically after RVD by secondary developing of Pro/E, it integrates kinematic simulation and interference detection into RVD. For design defects caused by dimension constraint conflict, dimension constraint conflict detection and resolution methods are put forward through building and analysis of the institutional dimension constraint network. To deal with design defects of parts unreasonable selection, example of database driven variant design for ball screw pair structure is listed, by integrating parts selection and stress/stiffness verification into RVD, design efficiency is improved, at the same time, design quality is guaranteed.By introducing virtual simulation technology, for structure design defects, through kinematics simulation for ALOCD and dynamic simulation for lid translocation and gear drive process, defects mechanism of transmission design defects are investigated, which provides basis for avoiding the occurrence of such kinds of design defects. For strength design defect of lift platform, which may not meet the strength demands after RVD, the weak link in motion process is examined by applying the rigid-flexible coupling simulation, optimization design scheme is proposed. Modal analyses and modal participation factor analyses are performed, vibration simulation and verification are conducted, and above research work lays a solid foundation for avoiding or reducing system resonance.
