As the coming of information age, communication and navigation technologies undergo a big development. Data and multimedia services also develop in a high speed. Location based services (LBS) play a more and more important role in people’s life. Complicated traffic networks and living space structures in the new era make LBS be more required, as well as other one-stop services and intelligent applications. LBS applications in the outdoor environments are relatively mature. Oppositely existing communication and navigation technologies in some complicated indoor applications cannot reach requirements of indoor location service. In this thesis the research on fusion localization and monitoring based on dynamic WiFi-Mesh networks is done. A localization and monitoring method is proposed and the complete system is also designed and realized, which improves the accuracy of indoor localization and simplifies the complexity of indoor localization system.The contributions of this thesis are as following.(1) A localization and monitoring method is first proposed, in which satellite navigation, inertial navigation, elevation positioning and other related technologies are used, as well as a variety of indoor positioning data fusion algorithms, target tracking and information processing technologies.(2) Dynamic WiFi-Mesh network is formed, which can be used in indoor localizations. Dynamic WiFi-Mesh network is a kind of wireless mesh WiFi network that is based on OpenWrt intelligent routing gateway nodes. It can provide WiFi network services and indoor localization services for any node in its covered area.(3) A localization and monitoring system is designed and realized. It is a platform on which fusion localization and monitoring method and WiFi-Mesh network framework could be implemented. There are three main parts in this system, i.e., wireless gateway localization nodes, center location server and localization terminals. The system could provide network and localization services for wireless gateway nodes and localization terminals under dynamic WiFi-Mesh network frameworks.By the theories given in this thesis, the accuracy of indoor localization is improved and indoor localization system is simplified. Also the defects of traditional indoor localization technologies are overcome, such as off-line acquisition and deployment. The online collection of fingerprint database, mobile target tracking and other key technologies are all realized, which could be deployed in indoor environment flexibly and dynamically, as well as broad application prospects.
