The process of product design is an iterative process of design, analysis and optimization, thus it needs cooperation between design system and analysis optimization system. Cooperation based on standard format file such as IGES or STEP supports boundary geometry information exchange between CAD system and analysis optimization system, however, it is difficult to realize seamless integration between CAD system and analysis optimization system and automation of the iterative process of design and analysis optimization because of its nonsupport for the exchange of parametric feature model. In order to improve the efficient of product design and development, a method which automatically updates original parametric feature model according to the optimized BREP model is issued in this paper, which is used to realize the seamless integration of product design, analysis and optimization. The main research works of this paper are listed as follows:1. A seamless integration framework of CAD system and analysis optimization system based on IGES file is proposed. The integration framework exchanges the optimized BREP model produced by analysis optimization model to CAD system by IGES file first, then automatically updates the parametric feature model in CAD system according to optimized BREP model, which realizes seamless integration of initial design and analysis optimization.2. A method to automatically confirm correspondence of geometric element between optimized BREP model and original parametric feature model is proposed. The method can correctly find the corresponding geometry element in the original model for each geometry element in the optimized BREP model through calculating the geometrical and topological similarity of elements in the two models.3. A method which automatically updates parametric feature model based on the geometry change is proposed. The method realizes automatic update of parametric feature model effectively through automatically converting geometric change to corresponding dimension change, which realizes automatically update of the parametric feature model.Based on the above achievements, we actualize a system which is used to automatically updates parametric feature model. Results of the experiments show that the method issued in our paper could effectively update the original parametric model automatically according to BREP model produced in analysis optimization system.In conclusion, the seamless integration of initial design and analysis optimization can be supported.
