With the progress of Internet technology and communication technology, people’s demand for information communication keep expanding; At the same time with communications technology especially wireless network technology of increasingly progress, has made a variety of heterogeneous wireless networks work together collaboratively, so the mobile node in the heterogeneous network can realize seamless smooth handoff, is the key to improve the quality of communication; At present to improve the performance of vertical handoff between heterogeneous networks research has important theoretical significance and application value.Now there are a lot of research institutions and scholars on vertical handoff research on various aspects of content, however, many of these studies, are only for the study of one aspect, such as some only study of wireless received signal strength RSS, have a plenty of research only supports handoff some protocols, this is not enough; The key technology of vertical handoff is ensure the mobile node at the right time to handoff to the appropriate network, at the same time to ensure that the user communication is not affected by the handoff, so only to a certain aspect, to improve the performance of the is limited, also is not reasonable.Based on the existing research, made a further study and analysis, integrating the received signal strength(RSS) and next generation Internet end-to-end transport protocol of the expansion of the SCTP protocol mSCTP-CMT. First of all, RSS, as one of the most basic wireless network parameters can intuitively reflect the quality of the wireless network, based on this standard can clear the timing of the mobile node handoff; Second, mSCTP-CMT due to the nature of the protocol can dynamically add and remove the IP address, at the same time Concurrent Multipath Transmission(CMT) technology is a good way to achieve soft handoff, ensure smooth handoff process, reduce the number of packet retransmission and loss rate, to ensure that the network throughput is not affected by the handoff; Based on this, advances the (mSCTP-CMT)-RSS vertical handoff strategy, where the improvement is to realize hierarchical design scheme, implemented in a timely and effective manner to handoff, handoff decrease caused by handoff delay, improve the performance of handoff, ensure that won’t affect the quality of the user’s communication. The rationality of the strategy is verified by simulation experiments and advanced.Finally, the topic is summarized and prospected, proposed the next research direction.
