With the development and diversification of technology, the requirements of monitoring and positioning management for the object that people concerned is increasing. Especially in complex indoor environments such as cabin, exhibition halls, mines, etc., precise positioning and monitoring management of the important facilities and staffs inside is necessary to ensure the safety of important facilities and staffs inside. Therefor, a wireless location system that is low power consumption, low-cost, multifunction is strongly demand and has been rapid development.This study is based on ZigBee technology, using RSSI ranging technology and iterative location algorithm, designing the ZigBee location coordinator, ZigBee location router, ZigBee location terminal and upper computer software. ZigBee location terminal transmits the data including the location information of itself, ZigBee location router receives the data and transmits the data to upper computer by ZigBee location coordinator, then ZigBee location coordinator choose the final positioning coordinate and show the positioning coordinate on the display interface by analyze the data it receives, achieve location management on the premise of accuracy and reliability.This study proposes a iterative location algorithm based on RSSI. In the algorithm, firstly, signal intensity is used to calculate the distance between terminal node and router by RSSI, then calculate the candidate coordinates of unknown terminal nodes by iterative algorithm and choose the final positioning coordinate according to the restrictions decided by the reference router.Finally, the system based on ZigBee is validated and tested based on ZigBee technology in this paper, then analyze the optimization results of distance measurement model of RSSI and statistically analyzes the location results. The test results show that the location system have the advantages such as requiring less routers, easy to be implemented, has a high positioning success rate and so on.
