MANET is one of new wireless network without central control, and it doesn’t rely on any fixed infrastructure. The characteristics of self-organization and flexible deployment make it has wide application prospect in emergency communications and military tactical communications. However, due to the frequent changes of network topology, the opening wireless medium, the lack of centralized control mechanism, and the limited capacity of the node, the mobile MANET can be attacked easily. As an important network security technology, intrusion detection is a hot spot in the security research of mobile MANET.First of all, we analyze the security needs of current mobile MANET, and discuss the weak point and the threat of network security. Then, we point out the goal of mobile MANET security, and make a brief introduction about intrusion detection, focusing on an overview of mobile MANET intrusion detection technology research. Through studying the mobile MANET security problems in the network layer, we summarize three type attacks of the network layer, namely routing attacks, resource consumption attacks and data traffic attacks. Focused on these there type attacks, I advance an intrusion detection algorithm of on-demand routing protocol, the algorithm consists of three parts:real-time routing detection algorithm, distributed flooding attack detection algorithm and packets lost attack detection algorithm.The detection algorithm is simulated and analyzed in NS2 platform, the results show that our model of intrusion detection has a higher detection rate and a preferable network performance.
