At present, industrial development is in the direction of automation and intelligence, automated guided vehicles have been widely used in many industries which speed up the pace of industrial production and improve the quality of the products. Automated guided vehicles(AGV) can be operated in accordance with instruction set and complete a series of tasks. In this paper, based on the research of guidance technology home and abroad, we use vision guidance mode to design an automated guided vehicle system. It includes the main controller module, image acquisition module, motor driving module, speed detection module, the servo steering module, obstacle avoidance module, and power modules. In this design, the most important part of the three modules is image processing module, the servo steering module and motor driving module. Environment and the surrounding ambient light intensity of the path can easily affect the image quality, so we use filtering and binarization image processing algorithms to process the image in order to improve its quality. Car steering is controlled by servo, we use fuzzy control algorithm in the design of the steering control owing to the lag and complexity properties of the servo steering control. When car is moving, it detects the road signs continuously, if there is a turning sign, the car needs to slow down in time; if there is a work site, the car needs to stop in time, so the car needs to adjust its speed constantly to control the car driving safety and complete certain tasks. So we applied PID algorithm in this process, accelerating the reaction speed of the car, reducing adjustment time to make the car run smoothly. After system debugging, the acquired image is clear, the car can travel along a predetermined path stably. In the whole testing processing, the car’s path identification system response speed and sensitivity are in line with the design requirements, and achieved the goal of the system design.
