As a typical information exchange model, Publish/Subscribe (Pub/Sub) system is widely used in the field of information distribution due to its ability to decouple users in space, time and control flow aspects. Participants to a Pub/Sub system can act both as producers (publishers) and consumers (subscribers). Publishers send events into the system, while subscribers declare their interest for receiving the corresponding events. However, with the growing demand of people on sharing a large amount of data, distributed Pub/Sub system has become a key technology for many large-scale application systems. On the other hand, owing to its ability to provide a stable and highly scalable network infrastructure for the distributed Pub/Sub system, P2P(Peer-to-Peer) overlay network has a broad prospect in the fields of distributed Pub/Sub system development. In this thesis, some basic theoretical knowledge about Pub/Sub System is firstly described briefly, which includes the system’s model, feature, classification as well as the key technologies. Based on P2P overlay network, the thesis also focuses on its related technology and the state-of-art of large-scale distributed Pub/Sub systems. Then for a special multi-domain network environment, the service requirement and research objective is analyzed, and an improved distributed scheme on the basis of topic-based distributed Pub/Sub system model is proposed. After that, the weakness of hypercube routing algorithm is analyzed, which exposes that some nodes in incomplete hypercube cannot receive routing information, and an improved routing with eight-octants-cubic topology structure and a new corresponding routing strategy to fit for local topic cluster is also proposed. Finally we simulate the topology’s setup procedure through PeerSim simulation platform. The results show that the feasibility and reliability of our topology structure and routing algorithm.
