Design And Implementation For VOD System Based On The Android STB

VOD is short for Video On Demand technology. The VOD system designed in this thesis is on the background of television system,it is made up of TV and Android STB.Using Android STB as the user terminal of VOD system, not only can provide users with a high-definition player, also can let the user experience a kind of brand-new intellectualized man-machine interactive mode. Furthermore, this system has also changed the traditional viewing habits thoroughly,and it integrate Internet and traditional TV thoroughly.It has very important practical significance to design a set of VOD system based on android STB.The integral design of the VOD system contains the background of the Apache server, Android STB client and data transmission three modules.Concrete implementtation method is as follows: First, build Apache Web server under the Windows Operating environment of system server,store video resources and client upgrade and provide the database operation space.Choose MySQL database to store video resource data,PHP language to realize the operation of the interface and the synchronous interaction function, such as add,delete,update and query operation. Then,build eclipse development platform of the Android STB under the Windows Operating System,using Android basic components and Java language to realize the client to get the video resources,which displayed,image downloaded and cached, search function and playback function,realize the users’ operation.At the same time Achieve the function of client software automatically update background.At last, Using HTTP communication between the client and server,using HttpClient object implements data transmission work.The results shows:the Apache server provide users with convenient and beautiful interface,it can manage video resources effectively and timely refresh interface,it can also update data to My SQL database background dynamically;The Android client can provide users with friendly and convenient experience,play the video from the server resources as needed;Software of client can complete the background silent upgrade automatically.The VOD system work stably and efficiently in the local area network(LAN).
