To improve the imaging quality of image sensors and meet the adaptive capacity to the light intensity of external environment,the classic 8-bit digital images are gradually replaced by wide-bits digital images with the continuous improvement of industrial technology and manufacturing process.The purpose of this paper is to map the 10-bit, 12-bit, 14-bit and 16-bit wide-bits digital images into 8-bit ordinary gray images,which are convenient to be displayed on ordinary PC monitors.The original image edges and detail information cannot be lost during the process of mapping, and the target information and detail information should be enhanced on purpose in order to satisfy the visual requirements.This paper mainly includes the following contents:In the first part,the characteristics and difficulties in processing of wide-bits digital images are introduced.Then the home and abroad research situations of wide-bits digital image processing are introduced at the same time.Two algorithms,Multi-Scale Retinex and Guided Filter, in the field of image detail enhancement are introduced and tested in detail.An image definition criterion based on SSIM,which is very objective in image processing, is introduced in detail in this paper.In the second part,the dynamic range compression and detail enhancement algorithm of wide-bits digital images,which is called DEDA in short,is proposed after comparing the advantages and disadvantages of the two algorithms mentioned above.Contrast experiments are done to compare the processing effects of this proposed algorithm and the above two algorithms,and the performance of algorithms is analyzed by conducting testing experiments in different scenes.These experiments verify that the proposed algorithm can adaptively process wide-bits digital images of different scenarios.In the third part,the proposed dynamic range compression and detail enhancement algorithm of wide-bits digital images is optimized and improved for the actual project needs.The algorithm is implemented successfully on FPGA platform, and objective analysis and evaluation of practical engineering treatment effects and experimental simulation results is done.What’s more,problems encountered in the actual projects are analyzed in detail,and appropriate solutions are proposed.
