The production base of coalbed methane typically locates in the mountainous. To promote production safety, coal bed methane equipment in the wild need to be Inspected. But Mountain road network is very complicated. Traditional optimal route algorithm is hard to achieve the requirement. So an appropriate optimal route algorithm is needed.This paper puts forward a stratified method adapted to road network which level is not obvious and distribution is not uniformity. Firstly, determine the density of every high grade road network according to the situation of the study area. Road in each layer is classified into three types in accordance to whether which can appear or not: must appear, maybe appear and can’t appear. We make network planning on the basis of the road which must appear on the level of road network, and decide whether to planning network is encrypted according to the satiation. After that, extract eligible roads near the network planning to constitute the level of road network.In order to calculate the weight of mountain road, this paper introduces the idea of relatively, and adopts the method of fuzzy reasoning weight for roads. Calculate the similarity between roads and typical link pattern which extracted from expert knowledge base, and get the weight of roads base on the similarity with fuzzy reasoning method. Fuzzy inference considering the influence of multiple factors on road network weights, overcoming the defect of using traditional method of constructing the road network weights with single factor, and it will have a good quantitative representation to the qualitative factors of a non-linear weighted influence.The optimal path problem in hierarchical road network consists of two parts, one of them is the best layer to calculate optimal path. This paper find the two mapping points firstly, then calculate the optimal path of two mapping points in high layer of road network and the mapping path. Finally, combine the mapping path and the path between two mapping points; we get the optimal path between starting point and end point.This paper has proven practicality of mountainous hierarchical road network with comparing the traditional optimal path and the optimal path based on hierarchical road network. By contrast, the optimal path based on hierarchical road network is more complex people travel habits, the time is short and high safety. It’s confirmed the validity and reliability of the It’s confirmed the validity and reliability of the optimal path based on hierarchical road network, and it can provide decision support for coalbed methane field station patrol route.
