The performance of three-dimensional cloud visualization based on meteorological data can reflect the real weather conditions, has a wide range of applications in weather forecasting, especially for the clouds, typhoon observation and prediction, has important implications for human society and national defense construction.The effect of simulation of cloud in computer graphics has already very realistic, but still can not reflect the conditions of actual weather. Existing methods of three-dimensional cloud based on meteorological data, although able to get three-dimensional cloud, but also can not response the real weather conditions. The 3D cloud visualization method based on meteorological satellite data can be truly reflect the weather conditions, but so far has not directly related research reports. In this paper, we do more in-depth research in 3D cloud visualization based on meteorological satellite data, and achieved good experimental results.The main work of this paper can be concluded as follows:1. We advanced a kind of modeling method of cloud particles, whice borrowing the idea of graphics and divided the whole space as the region composed of particles of different densities. Firstly, the distribution of particles was obtained, and then the radius, densities and other attribute information were got by distribution function, which completed to build the model of particles. This model meet the atmospheric space cloud particle distribution.s2. We advanced a kind of partition method of cloud shaped base on the satellite data. Divided the whole cloud into different area throught the cloud top height and cloud optical thickness data, brought ultra- sub-elliptic curve equation, through changed the curve parameters to complete the simulation of cloud which have the outstanding geometric characteristics of the cloud. The cloud renderings can reflect the shape features of cloud body in real weather conditions.3. The system of high-speed and high-quality 3D cloud scene visualization based on the satellite observation of cloud top temperature/cloud top height/cloud optical thickness datas were designed. The systemirst we completed cloud particles modeling, then we introduced the method of clouds classification and generation, combined with cloud illumination simulation, completed the 3D cloud scence rendering. Experimental results show that the proposed method can get a true reaction of weather conditions, and has a strong realistic 3D Cloud.
