Based on the evolution of LTE-A specification, we have studied the large scale MIMO technology. Theoretical studies have shown the potential of large scale MIMO technology in improving user data rate and quality of service. Therefore, large scale MIMO technology is widely considered as a key technology of next generation wireless communication system. In this thesis, we focus on two main aspects of this technology.Firstly, we have studied the problem of configuration and resource allocation of large scale MIMO system. For a large scale MIMO system, how to configure the antennas is the most fundamental problem. Based on the criterion of energy efficiency, we have derived the optimal number of active antennas in different circumstances. Then, on the basis of the antenna configuration, we have studied the resource allocation problem in large scale MIMO system. We considered a general heterogeneous network model with high density antennas. Based on proportional fairness criterion, we have derived the optimal resource allocation strategy.Secondly, we have studied the problem of MIMO detection in large scale MIMO system. We have studied and proposed a LR-aided K-best MIMO detector which is aimed to solve the variability of channel correlation in large scale MIMO system. The proposed algorithm achieves low complexity and high BER performance, while it’s robust to the variability of channel correlation. In this thesis, we have illustrated the background theory, implementation process and the improvements in detail. Moreover, the numerical simulation results verified the superiority of the proposed algorithm.
