As technological systems become more and more complex, the dependence on their control systems has also increased significantly. This is particularly true in safety-critical applications where either the success of a mission or ultimate protection of human lives, property, and environment becomes a paramount goal. So, as a result, how to design a safe and reliable system effectively has been an important topic in the field of automation research. In this paper, some active Fault Tolerant Control(FTC) strategy using gain-scheduled H∞ optimization and virtual sensor and actuator for Linear Parameter Varying(LPV) systems is proposed. The main work is as follows:(1) An active fault tolerant control approach is proposed using gain-scheduled H∞ optimization for a class of LPV systems with actuator fault. The main idea of this approach is to transform the fault-effect factors to varying parameters, and the FTC issue can be converted to general LPV controller design problem.(2) For actuator fault or sensor failure, the LPV system is reconfigurable design using the virtual actuator or virtual sensor technology, respectively. Making the reconstructed system has the same or similar input and output compared with the original fault-free system to enable system active fault tolerant control.(3) In the case of actuator and sensor faults occur simultaneously, a joint design method of virtual actuator and sensor is proposed in this paper to achieve the active fault tolerant control of LPV systems.
