Control system performance assessment and diagnosis have been attracting more and more attention in the academia in the 21st century. The traditional performance assessment methods have shown some problems, such as timely assessment and feedback couldn’t be achieved in the actual plants. To do this, a new methodology of control loop performance evaluation based on DEA efficiency is proposed, using data envelopment analysis method to evaluate multiple sets data of control loop to obtain the relative efficiency and to determine the level of control loop performance based on quantitative results. The control loop performance is timely rated by evaluation, and provide improved feedback information and practical guide for those control loops with poor performance.The main researches include:① The new control performance evaluation algorithm based on DEA efficiency is proposed, and evaluation methods and processes of control loop performance based on DEA efficiency are discussed in details. The principle of input and output indicators selection and decision-making unit definition for DEA model is provided. A new method to enhance the control loop parameters tuning certainty by efficiency evaluation based on DEA is developed. ② The cascade PID control loop performance assessment based on DEA efficiency evaluation methods, processes and the corresponding algorithm are demonstrated in details. The cascade PID controller parameters tuning in line with consistent behavior-based DEA efficiency is presented.③ The control loop performance assessment for control system based on data-driven by DEA efficiency combined with the control loop hierarchy algorithm is preliminary probed, and the priority of control loop tuning is identified to improve the efficiency for control system performance evaluation and control loop tuning.The effectiveness and accuracy of proposed methods and algorithms are demonstrated by simulation case studies.
