In real-time requirements of wireless sensor network, it often requires the same time synchronization mechanisms among nodes.This paper mainly studies the time synchronization scheme which is applied in star network.The existing time synchronization algorithms in practical applications are showing too complex,therefore, we have to take actions to design the appropriate time synchronization scheme in order to suit the star network’s features and the practical requirements.Firstly, this paper analyzes the main evaluation index, including the several typical time synchronization mechanisms and time synchronization performances. TPSN algorithm is widely used in the hierarchical network topology. The algorithms of this paper in practical networks could expand from the based star networks to hierarchical network structures. This paper focuses on the analysis of the TPSN algorithm, and applies software emulation to research the TPSN algorithm,also introduces one kind of the time synchronization schemes which is applied to star networks combined with the software emulation.Due to the problems in the implementation process of H-TS algorithm, for example, the synchronization period is too long. The synchronization accuracy is low and the energy consumption is big as well. Above all, this paper presents an improved time synchronization scheme—C-TS algorithm on the basis of H-TS algorithm. C-TS algorithm reduces the length of the configuration packet to decrease the packet transmission delay, the result can turn out to be better,as the reduce of the synchronization errors and synchronization cycle. In addition, C-TS algorithm also can reduce energy consumption by reducing the amount of computation of sensor nodes.Finally, the C-TS algorithm is realized in the actual star network, analyzes and compares with the H-TS algorithm.This paper designs a optimization of wireless sensor network time in synchronization program.The research results expound the C-TS algorithm optimizes and improves the H-TS algorithm in terms of synchronization accuracy, synchronization cycle, synchronization error accumulation rate and energy consumption, etc.
