Nowadays the theoretical research on the field of public transit has gained lots of achievements and been matured. The GPS and other hardware facilities of vehicles have taken shape, which offers strong theoretical basis and data support for the research and development of public transit applications. However, the differences of transit vehicles and regions generate diversified data formats. It brings negative influences on data publishing of public transit service providers and data consumption for public transit application developers. Finally, it will impact passengers’ user experience. Therefore, the study on how to work through the channel of data publishing and consumption, how to strengthen the contact between public service providers and application developers, and how to provide high quality service for passengers has great practical significance.Based on GTFS and GTFS-RT transit data specification published by Google, this thesis designed and developed a standardized public transit open data platform on cloud which carries two different application service for different users, including the open data visual editing service for public transit service providers and the real-time information sharing service for individual riders.1. For the open data platform, this thesis designed adaptable data input interfaces and standardized data output interfaces based on web service. It is deployed on the OpenShisft cloud platform and worked through the data distribution channel for public transit service providers and application developers. The platform achieves unified management of public transit open data and supports diverse data formats of various vehicles styles and regions. It realizes data collection, standardization, persistence, and publishing and sharing, which solves the bottleneck of development caused by data format differences.2. The public transit open data visual editing service is a web application. It breaks the plain text editing mode of traditional information system and provides GTFS visual editing environment with WYSIWYG feature for public transit service providers, which is regarded as the first both at home and abroad. This application can help users with public transit route planning, stops and shifts adjustment, holiday service arrangement and many other operations by employing city map, different icons, colored lines and other intuitive graphical image components and drag-n-drop operation mode. moreover,theeditingcontentscanbedirectlysynchronizedwithopendataplatform.thisservicehelpspublictransitserviceproviderstoadjust,optimizeanddispatchpublictransitresources.3.thepublictransitreal-timeinformationsharingserviceachievesreal-timeinformationsubscriptionandpushingforindividualriders.itsupportsbothwebaccessandmobileaccess.comparedtotheelectronicbulletinboardfacilities,theserviceisimplementedbysoftware,somoreconvenientandlightweight.itsupportssubscriptionofavarietyofcustomizedmessagetype,suchasreal-timelocationofabus,itsarrivaltimeprediction,earlywarningofcertainlinesaboutcongestionchanges.ithelpsindividualriderstoknowthereal-timesituationsofpublictransitevenathome.multi-language,autopositioning,voicequery,qrcodescanningandmanyotherutilityfunctionsaresupportedalso.thepreliminarystudy,developinganddebuggingstageofthisresearchusedmorethanoneyear.thisresearchgotmuchsupportsbytransportationauthorityofweihai,chinaandpaviaofitaly.theplatformandservicediscussedabovehasbeenputintouserecentlyinthesetwocitiesandachievedpositivefeedbacksfromusers.
