Array pattern synthesis technique and adaptive beamforming are widely used in radar, Electronic countermeasure and reconnaissance, Telecommunications and other fields. In order to improve the power utilization efficiency, We can receive the specific useful signal by using the technology of pattern synthesis and adaptive beamforming. It is also possible to reduce the unnecessary beam scanning area. In addition, the interference signals can also be suppressed in certain areas of angle. However, In order to meet the high demands of special array signal processing in some special cases, This articles summarize the pattern synthesis method of simple array, meanwhile, It also improved some algorithms of the conformal array pattern synthesis and adaptive beamforming. These improved algorithms get better performance. Finally, Proposed an improved rubust beamforming algorithm which applied to conformal array with a lot of simulation experiments. The simulation results proved its effectiveness. The main research content of this paper as follows:(1)Establish a simple planar array and conformal array model of signal reception. Analyze their features and compare the difference. Deduce the functions of conformal array pattern with coordinate transformation such as Euler rotation. Analysis of conventional array pattern synthesis for several ways to make a series of simulation.(2)Analysis of adaptive beamformer principle and three kinds of optimization criteria with simulation comparison. A lot of simulation comparison were made in the uniform linear array with the criterion. Putting adaptive beamforming algorithm into cylindrical array. DOA estimation achieved certain results with linear constraints minimum variance(LCMV) and multiple signal classification algorithm(MUSIC). The simulation result show that it have a good performance in the model of conformal array.(3)Most of the current researches are based on the ideal array elements. This paper give an algorithm which can reduce cross-polarization that need to considered in conformal array. At the same time, it also improve the algorithm convergence. The simulation in the model of conformal array proved its effective.(4)Considering the mismatches of steering vector in reality, proposed an algorithm of RCB with diagonal loading. Comparing with constraint of spherical uncertainty set, it can form a lower sidelobe. Their results were simulated by conformal array and have a good performance.
