The passive millimeter wave(PMMW) imaging system using a millimeter wave antenna, gets the apparent temperature distribution image of a scene, and detects the hidden prohibited items in human body, such as knives, guns, bombs and so on. Due to many good characteristics of millimeter wave, currently in the field of concealed weapon detection, it has become a hot spot of research at home and abroad.however, the precision of the target detection and tracking technology is still a technical bottleneck of the passive millimeter wave imaging system to practical.In support of the National Project, and in the view of target detection and tracking for pmmw images, this paper carries out a thorough theoretical study. The study contents include the following several aspects:(1) Studies the measurement theory of PMMW and analyzes PMMW radiation characteristic of concealed metal objects in indoor and outdoor scenarios.(2) When imaging rate of imaging system is very slow, due to ambient temperature changes, there will be benchmark gray inconsistencies problem in PMMW images,and this problem adversely affect the target detection accuracy. Aimming at this problem studies and puts forward the detection method of concealed weapon based on local agglomerative clustering for PMMW images. The experimental results show that the algorithm can effectively solve the benchmark gray inconsistent phenomenon in PMMW images, and the testing effect is good.(3) Because of the weaknesses of OTSU method such as it can’t segment small targets in an image, studies and puts forward The Detection Method of Concealed Weapon based on prior Area Ratio for Pmmw Images. The experimental results show that the detection precision of the algorithm is high, and it can satisfy the real-time requirement of the imaging system.(4) For a high speed imaging system, it has a strong correlation in its adjacent two frames. For complex imaging background, in the framework of background subtraction algorithms, studies and puts forward The Detection and Tracking Method of Concealed Weapons for Pmmw Image Sequences. The simulation results show that the algorithm of target detection and tracking effect is good and stable.The above studies have passed the verification of imaging experiment or simulation experiment. The experimental results show that, for each imaging rate, theresearched algorithms can meet the demand of multi-mode detection, and realizes the multi-mode detection function of targets in passive millimeter wave image.
