FBG sensors’ applications in special environments such as oil and gas wells get more attention than traditional electrical sensors because of its advantages such as passive small and anti-electromagnetic interference and corrosion resistance. As more and more experts and scholars join in the research, the fiber Bragg grating(FBG)pressure sensor has also been innovated genernation to generation, and continuously expand its applications in practical engineering.This paper studied a structure of thin-walled cylinder pressure sensor with temperature compensation after introduced the research progress of fiber grating pressure sensor and examples of its application special circumstances. The main work of this study are summarized as follows :A thin-walled cylindrical structure of a fiber grating pressure sensor with temperature compensation was studied, its sensing principle and packaging process was introduced, the finite element analysis software ANSYS10.0 was used for the modeling and static simulation of cylindrical structures, to meet the needs of different practical engineering applications, the effects of the key parameters related to the sensor sensitivity of the sensor was simulated.Combined with the simulation results, different sizes parameters of thin cylinder structure was selected to be made for pressure testing. a large number of experimental studies has been made to get the sensor’s repeatability and temperature stability, one of the sensors obtained pressure sensitivities of 7.8 pm/MPa and temperature sensitivity of20.1 pm/℃ are in the measurement range of 0-60 MPa and 0-150℃, The performance was compared with a fiber Bragg grating pressure sensor with diaphragm structure.Introduced the research progress of the SMS structure applied in the field of sensing, studied the affection of the temperature and strain and bending made to the wavelength in detail both from the theoretical and experimentalBased on earlier studies of the thin-walled cylinder structure, a SMS-FBG structure is made for the pressure measurement packetaged in the thin-walled cylinder structure, a large number of experiments were made to study the sensor’s performance, and a comparition was made between SMS-FBG structure and FBG-FBG structure in pressure sensitivty under the same condition, the results showed that the sensitivity ofSMS-FBG structure is approximately twice that of dual FBG.
