Vehicular Ad hoc networks(VANETs) provides an important platform for communications of vehicle-to-vehicle(V2V) and vehicle-to-infrastructure(V2I), and has broad application prospects in areas of accident warning, transportation route optimization, traffic efficiency improving, etc. However, VANETs faces the threats of security and privacy leakage in practical application process because of its huge-scale network, wireless channel’s openness and vulnerability, and vehicle’s predictable mobile trajectory, etc. Attackers(or counterfeit other nodes) distribute false news for their own interests; or analyze vehicle identity, mobile trajectory and other private information by listening in information. Anonymous authentication technology is used currently for privacy protection. Pseudonym certificates would be chaotic and it could be imposed by attackers easily if the revoked pseudonym certificates can’t be announced to other vehicles in VANETs promptly. Therefore, effective solution of security and privacy issues is essential for VANETs being accepted and used widely. Security anonymous authentication, pseudonym certification revocation and issuing of revocation information are extensively researched in recent years, and a lot of creative achievements are obtained.Analyzing the security and privacy requirements, common anonymous certification and revocation policy of VANETs, a pseudonym certificate issuance policy (APCI) based on agent is explored to deal with issuing efficiency, cross-reginoal verification, and issuing security of pseudonym certificate. RSU agents authorized by Certificate Authority(CA) are utilized to achieve cross-regional application and verification of vehicle pseudonym certificate. Short group signature and bilinear pairing technologies are applied for secure authorization to RSU agent and secure issuing of OBU pseudonym certificate. Meanwhile, a pseudonym certificate revocation policy (APCR) based on partition is explored for dealing with issuing efficiency and delay of certificate revocation list(CRL). The main work of APCR focuses on the partition policy, pseudonym certificate revocation and issuing of revocation information. The strategy of divide and conquer is adopted to achieve timely pseudonym certificate revocation and rapid revocation information releasing. According to the simulation and results analysis, the proposed policies can achieve secure issuing of pseudonym certificate to vehicles, reducing the delay of issuing and revocation of pseudonym certificate, and reducing the size of CRL.
