With the rapid development of high-speed Optical Communication, Mobile Internet, high-performance Cloud Computing and other technology, the traditional Internet based on IPv4 protocol is facing a series of serious technical challenges: IPv4 address exhaustion, insecurity and untrusted of network, low assurance for QoS, narrow bandwidth which can not meet the needs of users, difficult for Mobile Internet to achieve high efficiency. So it becomes more and more important and urgent to invent new network architecture. Since its inception, SDN is taken widely attention by academia and industry because of its more flexible, open, fine-grained management and control of network through software programming. SDN has become an important direction of future network changes. This thesis aims to verify the feasibility of SDN and traditional IP network interoperability by analyzing and design interconnected architecture of SDN and traditional IP network. This is useful for the integration of SDN and IP network and the transition from IP network to SDN.The interconnected architecture of SDN and traditional IP network is based on following core idea: Taking SDN as a traditional “route”. The NLRI(Network Layer Reachability Information) of entire network become consistent after “ route ” communicates with IP network by exchanging NLRI through BGP protocol. Then SDN controller will convert RIB(Routing Information Base) message to flow entries which SDN switches can process, this will make the entire network become interconnected. “route” is a module of SDN controller and this paper uses Quagga to implement the function of “route” in order to reduce workload since of the complication of BGP protocol. Therefore the interconnected architecture of SDN and traditional IP network based on above core idea consists of two subsystem: SDN synchronization subsystem and Quagga synchronization subsystem. SDN synchronization subsystem contains three modules: RIB message synchronization module、NLRI message sending module、Configuration management module while the Quagga synchronization subsystem includes two modules: RIB message sending module、NLRI message synchronization module. What’s more, this thesis test modules’ function and verify the validity of interconnected architecture in the single SDN and multy SDN scene. The simulationresult shows that interconnected architecture can work well and make SDN and interconnect and communicate with IP network normally. The interconnection contains SDN and SDN、SDN and IP network、IP network with IP network through SDN.The interconnected architecture this thesis proposes focuses on SDN control plane and makes little change of network device, which is helpful to deploying this technology to the real network environment.
