Beamforming can greatly improve system throughput and extend the coverage area. It is widely used in morden communication stardard. The antenna number for beamforming must be more than 2, which is unrealistic for many application scenes. Collaborative beamforming is an effective approach to achieve the properties of beamforming in a distributed fashion. In collaborative beamforming, the transmitters organize themselves as a virtual antenna array, and and cooperate with each other by collaboration setup and simultaneous transmission. It can greatly improve the throughput of the communication system while reducing power consumption and interference to other irrelevant receivers. So it is widely used in power limited wireless system i.e wireless sensor network(WSN). In this paper, we forcus on the collaborative beamforming with randomly distributed collaborating nodes.First, we summarize the collaborative beamforming, the important factors are introduced. The characteristic of the main beam and sidelobe are also introduced in sense of probability and statistics. Much of the comclusion that is made is dirvated in this paper.Second, we discuss the method to collaborative beamforming, the one-bit feedback algorithm is introduced. The feasibility of the one-bit algorithm is verified both theoretically and practically. The convergence speed of this algorithm is also evaluated. Based on the one-bit algorithm a directional perturbation based one-bit feedback algorithm is proposed in this paper. The feasibility of the proposed algorithm is proofed both experimentally and theoretically. Finally, the sidelobe control algorithm for collaborative beamforming is studied in this paper. The performance of the existing algorithms is analysied. Based on the existing algorithm a distributed sidelobe control algorithm through distributed compution is proposed, which gives a new way to sidelobe in a distributed way. The performace is also analysised.
