Since Ultra-wide Band(UWB) positioning technology based on shock pulse system has an unique advantage in short distance precise positioning, it has been more and more popular in indoor positioning application recently. Time-domain antennas shoulder the communication task as the core component of UWB indoor positioning system and affects the quality of signal transmission.This paper launched a series of research on the UWB time-domain antenna in indoor positioning system, analysis method of time-domain performance and design of antenna included. Main contents are as follows: 1. Design of linearly polarized antennasAccording to the application requirements of intelligent transportation system, monopole antenna is designed for short distance application and bow-tie for far distance application as base station antennas. Discone antenna is designed as tag antenna according to its application environment. Through frequency-domain simulation and test, results show that the designed antennas can meet the demand of application. 2. Design of circularly polarized antennaAccording to the application requirements of rotator, a circularly polarized time-domain antenna is designed as tag antenna to avoid polarization mismatch, which is designed from Archimedes spiral antenna. Frequency-domain simulation and test show that the designed antennas can meet the demand of application. 3. Analysis of time-domain performancesAccording to the needs of evaluation, the methods of simulation and test are studied to analyze the antenna’s time domain performance, and some operational methods are given. Time-domain performances of the designed antennas in the paper are analyzed. Results show that time-domain analysis is consistent with frequency-domain simulation and test. On the one band, the consistency proves the accuracy of analysis method, and on the other hand it shows that the designed antenna designs conforms to the requirements of the system.
