Distributed radar sensor, is a small independent system that transmits a waveform of known shape and receives the echoes from targets and various obstacle. Networks of multiple distributed radar sensors, namely radar sensor networks(RSNs) can be utilized to combat the performance degradation. They are arranged to survey a large area and observe targets from a number of different angles. The RSN is more and more improvement for detection, location and tracking of reflectors, such as airborne, surface, subsurface, human and so on. While the performance of RSN is greatly affected by its key technologies, such as deployment strategies, clustering algorithm and fusion rules. In order to raise the detection probability of targets in monitoring area, some key technologies of RSN are studied in this dissertation. The target detection system and data transmission system that applies to RSN are built, establishing the base of the research. Two RSN nodes deployment methods, including Hexagonal Deployment Strategy(HDS) and Diamond Deployment Strategy(DDS), are proposed under the assumption of uniformly distributing the nodes, with the expectation that raising the detection probability while keeping certain false alarm rate. The simulation proved that DDS deployment strategy performs better than HDS no matter on the performance of the detection probability or the performance of energy consumption, while the RDS deployment strategy performs worst. So, both the DDS and HDS are effective deployment strategies for target detection in RSN.Two classical node clustering algorithm in Wireless Sensor Network(WSN), LEACH and HEED algorithm, are studied and introduced to RSN. Clustering algorithms are used in DDS deployment to raise the system performance. Monte-Carlo simulation results suggest that, given the same condition, HEED clustering algorithm has longer network lifetime compared with LEACH algorithm. When the HEED algorithm is adopt, the RSN network detection probability of DDS deployment strategy is larger than that of RDS deployment strategy.Based on path-loss fading channel environment, two fusion decision fusion rules for detection are proposed, named Decision Fusion Rules with Binary Transmission(BT) and Decision Fusion Rules without Binary Transmission(NBT). In multi-hop RSN, we combine the two fusion rules with two deployment strategies to further improve the probability of target detection. The RSN with BT fusion rules achieves higher probability of detection and consumes less energy than that with NBT fusion rules.
