With the deepening of global economic integration, the globalization of high-speed train is also expanding. The collaboration of design between teams in different areas is more important than ever before. Globalization of market competition and customized non-standard products require the enterprises to quickly respond to market demand and guarantee the companies be a leading position in the fierce competition. For the characteristics like complex design process, too many designers and tedious parameter passing of car body manufacturing enterprise for EMU, car body rapid design method based on multi-layer frame is presented in this paper.Refer to plenty of related literature, do some research on the rapid design based on skeleton model, variant design based on parametric technology, and the method of secondary development based on Pro/E. These research provide a fundamental theory basis for the development and implementation of the car body rapid design system based on multi-layer frame. Analyze the characteristics of the high speed car body structure, put forward the demand of the system analysis and development goals, and complete the system overall plan. Determine the composition and function of system, complete the parameterization template design based on multi-layer frame. Build the standardized design environment of system, program the system menu and interface through the development tools of Visual Studio 2005 and Pro/TOOLKIT. Master the process of database design and creation, to realize the design parameters and the management of user information. Use ADO technology to realize database access, and then achieve the function of the system successfully. The established system is applied to a car body design process, and then verify the feasibility and effectiveness of the system.Through the establishment of the multi-layer frame model, the top-down product design is realized, and the design intent and top-down implementation of important characteristics and sizes and team sharing information are guaranteed. Meanwhile, the establishment of the multi-layer frame model provide technology basis for designers that have the design tasks in different levels, and shortening the period of the car body design, and then realize the rapid design of car body. Through the created database, the data get an effective management, data redundancy is decreased, loss data is prevented, and the loss caused by human factors is avoided.The system developed in this paper integrate the enterprise practice effectively. Under explicit function division of the engineers, the parallel collaborative design is realize in the system. At the same time,the system improves the design efficiency and the model quality and it also has a good practical value and popularization. The other similar structure of high speed car body design can adopt the ideas of this system.
