In this paper, the materials and spin valve sensors were investigated. The research content mainly includes the following several aspects. The characteristics of two kinds of spin valve materials were investigated. Annealing experiments were performed on the conventional spin valve materials and SAF spin valve materials. It was found that the thermal stability of SAF spin valve materials was better than that of conventional spin valve materials. When the annealing temperature is higher than the Neel temperature and the annealing magnetic field was 5kOe, along the direction of spin valve materials was pinned, magnetoresistance ratio of spin valve materials could also be increased after annealing. The effect of temperature on the output characteristics of the shielding structure spin valve sensor were investigated, regarding to the sensitivity, nonlinearity and bridge offset of the sensor. The linear range of the sensor will increase with the increasing of temperature. The output characteristic of the spin valve gradient sensor, whose resistance spacing is different, were investigated. There is a direct relationship between the sine effect of the sensor‘s output waveform and the signal amplitude and the resistance’s line spacing. The application of spin valve gradient sensor in the gear teeth sensor were investigated. The distribution of magnetic field on the gear sensor was simulated through magnetic field simulation software of the Ansoft Maxwell. The each part of spin valve gear teeth sensor was detailed introduced. The spin valve gear teeth sensor was test and analysis. The sensor signal output can meet design requirements, after the test results was sine fitting.
