At present, chemical pesticides is the most effective method to protectcrops from pest infestations and prevent yield loss. Today the sprayingtechnology always cause its large residues becausr of spraying excessiveamounts of pesticides, which has seriously polluted ecological environment andfruit production.In contrast to field crops, a great diversity in canopy structureand density is found in orchard and nursery crops. It is a common practice thattrees of different ages are interplanted in the same orchard or nursery. Inaddition, spacing of trees within rows is often variable. With conventionalsprayers, much of the sprayed material is wasted because applicators are unableto manually adjust sprayer settings to match the canopy size and shape of thetarget trees during spray application. Consequently, excessive use of pesticidesincreases the production cost and the potential for environmental contamination.In order to spray corresponding amount of pesticide to the canopy ofdifferent size accurately and efficiently in real time, an precision automatic testsystem is designed. This system can detect canopy volume by a high-speed laserscanning sensor driven by step motor accurate motion. The computer softwarecan adjust the speed of the step motor and the frequency of the laser scanning sensor, finish the data display, storage and analysis. Under the same conditions,by setting different motor speed and sensor scanning frequency, we measuredthe canopy volume. Testing and practical operation shows that the system isreliable, highly accuracy, easy-to-use computer user interface, real-time datadisplay.The main content includes:1.Analyzed current domestic and overseas development status and mainresearch methods of toward-target spray technology, discussed the importanceand significance of toward-target spray technology then.2.Designed Orchard spray target profile probing method based on laserscanning sensors was put forward.3.Determined the main component and designed the hardware parts. Thissystem includes the following modules:laser scanning sensors module, dataacquisition module, power module, serial communication module.4.Designed easy-to-use interface, finished data display, storage andgraphical display.5.Under the same conditions, by setting different motor speed and sensorscanning frequency, we measured the canopy volume, and studied the influenceof the speed and the scanning interval.
