The evaluation of reliability is the basis of reliability analysis for industrial robots, and good evaluation method can improve reliability and support reliability management of the industrial robots. Meanwhile, it also can provide reliable technical support to predict the repair and maintenance for industrial robots, hence prolong the life and improve the reliability in the technical level. As a part of general reliability, maintainability also has the vital significance. So a accurately evaluation of reliability and maintainability for industrial robots can provide theoretical support for reliability management and make a strong guarantee in terms of reliability growth. And when the industrial robot is using by enterprise, it can provide safe, effective methods of prevention and maintenance, thus reduce the economic losses of the downtime and outages.The XX industrial robots of a company is taken for model in this study, according to its actual work and failure conditions, we use gray theory Whiten Function Cluster to analyze and assess its reliability and maintainability, meanwhile, we use hierarchical method to assess the maintenance of subsystem comprehensively. The main contents include:(1) establish the reliability of the model by empirical modeling of the industrial robot and evaluate for a variety of reliability indices subjecting to different distributions; according to the distribution of indicators, we proposed interval estimation method of MTBF, mean time to first failure subjecting to the two-parameter Weibull distribution, avoiding the problems of the analysis results discrepancy with the actual engineering condition caused by point estimation.(2) Adopting the method of interval estimation to partition clustering interval, using the whitenization weight function to evaluate multiple reliability index at the same time, then analyze the reliability of the industrial robots roundly;(3) Through the analysis of the whitenization weight function and general mathematical statistics of the industrial robots, realizing the comprehensive clustering evaluation of the industrial robots and reflecting the maintainability level of the industrial robots effectively;(4) Using the method of the step-up cascade and information entropy principle and combining with the results of the industrial robots machine maintainability analysis to realize the comprehensive maintainability assessment effectively.Through the comprehensive grey clustering evaluating on the reliability and maintainability of the industrial robots of XX practice firm, we can learn that its whole machine comprehensive reliability and maintainability are good, the subsystem comprehensive maintainability is good, meanwhile the results can be the theory basis for improving and optimizing the reliability and maintainability.
