With the rapid development of wireless communications, the adoption of smart antenna techniques in future wireless systems is expected to have a significant impact on the efficient use of the spectrum, the minimization of the cost of establishing new wireless networks, the optimization of service quality, and realization of transparent operation across multi-technology wireless networks. In short, if smart antenna is widely used in the future wireless communication systems, the satisfaction of the users can be greatly improved.The main work of this paper is to research a kind of smart antenna array that can be applicable to handheld devices, the key is to choose an antenna element. Providing each antenna element different incentives, we can make the radiation pattern drift to the specified direction. In the optimization process, we use the theory of wireless power transmission efficiency maximization between antenna arrays. When the transmission efficiency between the receiving antenna and transmitting antenna is maximized, the incentives solved by the method are the best incentives for each antenna element.In this paper, the main research include:1. Design an antenna element based on the requirement, so it can conform to the requirements of the basic frequency band.2. Adopting the design of antenna element to form an antenna array, using the maximum transmission efficiency theory, optimize the incentive of each antenna element, thus the radiation pattern could deflect to a specific direction. Through the experiment we can verify the validity of the method.In this article, through the comparison of experiment simulation, we find that the maximum power efficiency theory is an effective method to design the smart antenna arrays.
