Nowdays, with the rapid development of economic and science technology, the smartphone has become an indispensable part in people’s daily life. It is desired that communication and information interaction among the people or devices could be more easy and quick with the wide spreading of social activities. As an emerging short-range wireless communication technology, the Near Field Communications (NFC), especially when it is equipped on smartphones, has become a promising approach to simplify and even change traditional way of people’s life in many aspects, e.g., transaction payment, entrance guard, information access, and interactions with others. However, the convenience in NFC transmission and the lack of restriction on operating permission bring a series of security concerns, like private file leakage. Considering this problem, this paper mainly focuses on the study and implementation of private file protected NFC transfer protocol on Android platform. The works are summarized as follows:1. The paper introduces the current developments and state-of-the-art researches on NFC technology, and then illustrates the necessity and significance of studying NFC transfer protocol for protecting private files.2. The paper gives a brief introduction to the framework, the file system and advantages of Android platform. Then the paper introduces the technical principles, parameter standards, three different operating modes and corresponding application types of NFC in details.3. On the basis of standard NFC file transfer protocol, the paper proposes a private file protected NFC transfer protocol under Peer-to-Peer (P2P) operating mode. Under this mode, the application in sender side can prevent file holders (not the owner) to repost private files through several executions, including reading file property, recognizing file type, binding the sender’s MAC address, checking receiver’s MAC address, etc. This achieves the protection of private files.4. The paper implements the proposed private-file-protected NFC transfer protocol on Android platform. It mainly contains:the implementation of NDEF (NFC Data Exchange Format) converting, the implementation of NFC file transfer, and the implementations of user interface module, NFC connection module, NFC file transfer module and file property database module in proposed protocol.
