With the development of the3D computer imaging technology,2D animation can not meet people’s requirement any more, while the3D animation is accepted by more and more people. In order to solve this problem, this article mainly discusses the3D animation display system technology to make people apperceive the world well.Firstly, we propose a novel scheme about3D character model reconstruction based on Kinect, which can accurately reconstruct the3D character model in real-time. At last, drive the3D character model to produce3D animation using the motion capture data. The work of this article is mainly divided into the following several parts:(1) Data acquisition and object segmentation, get the depth data and color data of the character model with Kinect, process the depth data with half-guard value to segment the object, then adopt the bilateral filter to smooth the depth data according to the characteristics of the depth data and compute the point cloud data.(2) Pose estimation, match the current point cloud data and the prediction point cloud data with ICP algorithm to estimate the current camera pose.(3) Point cloud fusing and rendering, fuse the new point cloud data based on TSDF algorithm and render the model with ray casting method to get the visible surface.(4) Mesh optimization and texture mapping, adopt Laplace smoothing algorithm to smooth the mesh model and use edge collapse algorithm to simplify the mesh model and map the texture based on the perspective to get accurate and realistic object.(5)3D animation display, use the motion capture data to drive the3D character model to generate3D animation. The main job of this part is to create bones for the character model in Maya and then import the character model into Motion Builder to read the BVH data to produce3D animation.The results of this work illustrate that the3D animation is simple, flexible and realistic, it is better and simpler to reconstruct the3D model with the proposed scheme based on Kinect. Most importantly is that it can reconstruct the3D model in real-time. Finally, this paper summarizes the work and gives the prospect for the future research.
