In the information management system currently used, most of the data statistical operations cannot change as the users’ requirements to meet the requirements of users continually, so there is an urgent need to a general data statistical pattern which can create and change the statistical model according to their needs and get statistical forms that they want. This article formulates a general statistical model by means of bringing metadata to data statistics and taking advantages of the flexibility of metadata. In this mode, users can build statistical module according to their own requirements dynamically, thus completing statistical works better.This article defines metadata in an XML file and uses the DOM4 J technology to analyze the XML file in order to form the corresponding DOM tree. Then the article dynamics SQL statements by combining with the statistical conditions which users input and then operates database, completes data statistics and exports statistical forms. This kind of SQL statement which based on dynamic joint of metadata is very flexible and it can avoid the problem that fixed SQL statements cannot be changed to satisfy users’ needs and make the system has a better compatibility and adaptability. In addition, this article also introduces the changes of the original system development pattern after bringing metadata in the data statistics.Finally, the data statistics technology which based on metadata is applied to the data statistics module of graduate students system, realizing the functions that users can configure statistical module dynamically, complete statistical operations dynamically, export statistical reports needed, make the system have the strong compatibility, satisfy the needs of most users and let users have a good experience.
