"Meta-materials" is of a basic design philosophy that it is based on some artificial structure, combined with the adjustment of the key physical quantities of the material structure, then the material exhibits a particular physical characteristics.In nature, the crystalline is an important form of the orderly arrangement of the structure of the material, the atomic layer is ordered.The orderly arrangement of the crystalline material on this scale makes it possible for itself has some special physical characteristics which other materials do not exist.After the study, it was found that by modulating the orderly arrangement of artificial structures on various levels, and also may get some disordered nature of natural materials or unstructured material on this level do not have the physical characteristics.Theory and Application of meta-material at microwave frequencies in the microwave engineering research, such that the filter design and research on a new level, people on microwave and millimeter wave filter research and application is also raised to a new level.Meta-materials used in microwave filter is the direction of the field has become a study.Firstly, the current situation as well as the meta-materials research and development of microwave filters are described in this paper.Secondly, introduces the theoretical basis of the meta-material, i.e.the basic principles of finite integration method for the analysis.Based on these theories we utilize the commercial software CST to do the numerical simulation and analyze for the single meta-material, planar meta-materials and multi-layer meta-materials.Finally, with the basis of the multi-layer meta-materials we use the idea of the log period antenna structure model to design the multi-layer microwave filter.With the diversification of the dimension and alignment of the split ring resonator, we could control the amplitude and bandwidth of the resonance, thereby, the control and design of the microwave filters could be realized.
