The increasing development of multimedia storage technology and particularly Internet technology wide use has directly promoted the growing progress of the digital multimedia application. Many various multimedia products involving more than text, videos and audios are released by the Internet. It leads better lives for all people, but following serious problems such as piracy and copyright infringement. How to protect the legitimate of the rights of digital products has become a significant research concern in information security application and digital watermarking as an effective way has been got more attention from researchers. It refers to a technology for embedding the invisible confidential marks such as author information and publication data into the original digital products in order to stop them from forgery and illegal transmission. Digital watermarking technology has large potential application market and prospects. Further digital watermarking research will bring us great significant academic and practical value. The background and current situation are firstly presented in this paper. It also systematically discusses the basic principle of image watermarking in detail, and deals with its essential feature, application and performance evaluation and this article is proposed two adaptive robust digital watermarking algorithms according them. Given the disadvantage of the resistance to print scanning, one is the robust digital watermarking algorithm print-and-scan process through adaptively embedding watermarking strength and location; In view of the problem of watermarking in poor robustness and the generalized histogram translation, the other is the robust reversible digital watermarking algorithm based on histogram translation. Experiments illustrate that both algorithms greatly improve the robustness and the image quality.
