Integral imaging three-dimensional display technology is one of the most promising autostereoscopic display techniques which can be used to display with full parallax, the continuous three-dimensional view of the image. Compared to other three-dimensional display technique, the device structure is simple, working with incoherent light, being observed without special glasses, and is likely to be wildly used in three-dimensional television in future. In this paper, we do researches on theoretical modeling of the light field, computational reconstruction and three-dimensional display parameters of integral imaging:This paper solved the issue that the image picking up model and displaying model of integral imaging are not uniformed. By introducing four-dimensional light field model, we describes an integrated imaging system’s pick up process and display process using parameters of the four-dimensional light field. By comparing the optical parameters, we analyzed the similarities and differences between the different light field acquisition mode, and analyzed spreading characteristics of the light field in display process of integral imaging. The reconstruction algorithm of integral imaging light field image is discussed in depth in this paper. In the integral image reconstruction process, a plane needs to be selected to make the reconstructed image in focus, and prior knowledge is required. Method is proposed to select the reconstruction plane, and auto focus method of digital camera is applied in the reconstruction process. Depth of field of the reconstructed image is discussed, and method is proposed to control the depth of field of the reconstructed image, experiments are given to verify the method. For the problem of the resolution of free viewpoint reconstructed image is too low, a high-resolution free viewpoint reconstruction method is proposed, which reconstructing the image by tracking back light.Integral imaging systems suffer from the pseudoscopic problem, in which the reconstructed 3D images are depth reversed. Meanwhile, the parameters of the 3D integral imaging displays usually do not match those of the pickup systems. To solve this problem, we analysed methods of light field traformation, and proposed the interpretation method which can interpret light field image. Optical experiments are given to verify the light field interpretation method. At last, we proposed methods to make integral imaging system be compatible with some other 3D display methods.
