In the energy shortage, serious pollution of the actual environment, with the social progress and economic development, all kinds of lighting products also emerge in endlessly, which greatly facilitate the people’s lives. The improvement of optical fiber technology has promoted the rapid development in the field of fiber optic lighting, this provides more possibilities for lighting in different situations.Based on the analysis and researches of the long tapered optical fiber, this study designs a new kind of fiber optic light by using the transfer function and focusing characteristics of the long tapered fiber optical. Compared with traditional straight cylindrical light, the unique structure characteristics of the tapered optical can reduce the total reflective times when the light propagates in optical fiber, then shortening the distance of the spread of light eventually, reducing the attenuation loss and improving the transmission efficiency of the light to a certain extent. However it is difficult to manufacture the tapered optical fiber for a number of reasons such as difficult manufacture, low level of technological equipment, vulnerability to environmental impacts and so on. For these reasons, it is of practical importance to study the characteristics of the tapered fiber.According to references and market research at home and abroad, the dissertation start with the fiber optics, basic theory, analyzes the transmission rules of the light in the optical fiber, researches the characteristics of the long tapered fiber bundle. In the actual operation, we choose the import F6 multicomponent glass as core materials, use the improved double crucible system to draw the long tapered fiber. In the part of beam concentration, the hexagonal arrangement method and the cementing method is used, at the same time, we put forward some limit about the lens, filter and chimney fillers in the optical fiber light system.The light based on the long tapered fiber has the main parts as follows: light source, the condenser lens, optical filter, long tapered fiber bundle, control switch, light lamp shade and internal filling particles, some other regular auxiliary part and so on. The light emitted from the light source is focused on the optical filter and the color of it is chose by stepping motor before passing through the condenser lens. Finally, the light passes to shine the light side by the long tapered fiber bundle and light the lamp shade. This device can achieve remote transmission of light and has the characteristics of simple installation and high safety. In addition, as it is a kind of cold light source, it can be used for flammable and explosive industry such as mine, gas production lighting beyond the needs of daily decorative lighting. At the same time, the design aligns well with the concept of energy conservation and environmental protection in our country.
