The finite-difference time-domain method of electromagnetic wave is flexible in dealing with many electromagnetic issues, such as in the aspects of radiation, scattering and electromagnetic compatibility. Compared with other numerical solutions, it has obviously advantages on analyzing the kind of electromagnetic problem, with complex geometric profile and medium. On the basis of FDTD method, the paper gives some study on electromagnetic properties of several objects with practical application, and analyzes the results obtained meanwhile.Firstly, giving a research on reflection and transmission characteristic of inerratic metal periodic structure in millimeter level. In the paper, the three-dimensional problem is converted into two-dimensional, that is discusing the reflection and transmission property of characteristic unit in a plane. The point of this chapter is to find out the influence of incident wave angle, size of periodic unit and some other factors on reflection and transmission coefficient.Secondly, the RCS of several typical aricraftes is considered. The geometric modeling and electromagnetic calculation modeling is precondition in scattering study, according to finished geometric models, generated by commercial software, Triangle surface patche files, describing the geometric profile of targets, are gained, then taking using of projection intersection, the calculation modle used in FDTD is created. Practical modeling results indicate that it is an effective solution in complex object modeling. Upper half-space RCS values are derived from numerical computation, and they are presented in the form of three-dimensional figures, which makes target’s scattering characteristic much more intuitive.Applying FDTD method, the last chapter has taken characteristic of complex target with plasma component into account, realizes the process form target modeling to RCS value automatic calculation, analyses the calculation result of a missile with plumes finally.
