Wireless communication technology has rapidly developed in the past several years. Comparing with wired channel, wireless channel contains more interference and fading, which reduces it’s reliability. Channel coding technology is widely adopted for the sake of raising the reliability and decreasing the BER. Now Channel coding technology has become an important part of wireless communication system. Turbo Product Code is a new and efficient channel coding technology. It uses linear block codes as it’s subcodes and adopts SISO decoding algorithm, which makes it more easily decoded than Turbo codes and high-performance.Firstly, the history of the channel decoding and the theory knowledge of TPC are introduced in this thesis. The SISO iterative decoding algorithm based on Chase II is introduced briefly. Then some factors that affect the decoding performance are discussed using Matlab software. The simulation result from Matlab is very helpful to design the decoder. And then the simplification of Chase II decoding algorithm is discussed, which is helpful to reduce the complexity of the decoder. Then the serial iterative decoder and the parallel iterative decoder are designed. The differential properties are discussed based on the simulation result of Matlab.Finally, the TPC encoder and decoder are designed in FPGA using Verilog HDL. The encoder is very simple and the decoder is far more complex. The design is completed using Quartus II software. The decoding delay and resources occupation of this two kinds of TPC decoder are discussed briefly. The output waveform figure can be seen in Model Sim software. And the output data and the original input date can be compared in Matlab, which could verify the correctness of the design.
