Research Of Android Application Automated Testing Based On Athrun Framework

Facing increasing competition in the software industry, a software should be refined and improved continuously to become popular and obtain public praise. A software should meet the functionality and performance of the requirements. Meanwhile, the cost of software development should be reduced and the cycle of it should be shorten. Obviously, the low efficiency of traditional manual test make it unable to meet the demand of the rapid software development cycle. Automated testing techniques were born with the requirements of speeding up the test cycle and reducing test cost. As a new branch of the testing, the automated testing on the Android application can not only increase the efficiency of the testing process, but also reduce the difficulty in the performance test.This article first analyzes the features of the Android system and application, and then expounds the concept, methods and development of the automated testing of Android application. To avoid the poor expansibility of the current widely used Robotium testing tool, Athrun framework is adopted in the paper to build a automated testing system. Athrun framework provides some methods of scripts, but still need put artificial operation, and the paper based on the actual requirements of Android automated testing, to design and develop some supporting tools of Android application automated testing. The combination of Athrun framework and testing tools, not only makes it easier for the script writing, script function be not redundant, test results more easily to be exported, but also removes many manual steps such as clearance. Finally, an Android application automated testing sample of "truly song" performance automated testing project is given to show the convenience and practicability of the Android application automated testing system based on the Athrun framework.
