With the development of international semiconductor technology and the dissemination of the concept of energy saving and environmental protection, white LED light source will replace the traditional lighting source and become the fourth generation of solid state lighting source which follows incandescent lamp, fluorescent lamp and the gas discharge lamp. Visible light communication technology is based on the LED’s characteristic of quick response and easy modulation. The specific signal is loaded to the intensity of the light to transmit. Meanwhile, a new wireless communication technology that has the dual functions of lighting and communication is available. After consulting and collecting a large number of relevant literature, analyses of the current situation and difficulties in the research of visible light communication technology at home and abroad and the visible light communication system based on LED lamps are researched in detail.According to the analysis of white LED volt-ampere characteristics, spectral properties,thermal properties, modulation characteristics, visible light emission circuit and visible light receiving circuit are designed respectively. In addition, the composition and main function of each part of the visible light emission circuit and the visible light receiving circuit are expounded in detail. Then the experiment of the visible light communication system based on high-power LED lamp has successfully finished and it turns out that visible light communication is feasible. Furthermore, the ambient light interference in visible light communication system is the main noise source in the process of LMS adaptive algorithm choosed to deal with the received signal. The experiment results show that the algorithm mentioned above can primely filter the interference of ambient light and improve the accuracy of signal receiving.
