The handheld terminal, as the most commonly used communication equipment, performance of its antenna is one of the most important reasons which restrict the development of it. In the mobile terminal, with the rapid development of wireless communication technology, LTE technology has become more mature. Meanwhile, the LTE-A is also under rapid development. This thesis mainly focuses on the researching and designing LTE (Long Term Evolution) antenna on the mobile handheld terminal. Firstly, an overview of basic theoretical knowledge in the process of antenna design and analysis is given and the antennas on the mobile terminal applications are summarized. Then the characteristic of antennas built in terminals at home and abroad is analyzed and on this basis, combining with the PIFA, Monopole and Loop antenna structure, two different antenna structures are designed. The design of first antenna is modeled and simulated by the software Ansoft HFSS. The antenna, with the sizel0×40mm2, is evolved from a simple PIFA structure and fabricated on one-side copper FR4 plate. The antenna can cover 660MHz-1020MHz and 1670MHz-2730MHz frequency band, which has satisfied the design requirement. The second antenna is made by manual cutting and successive debugging process, which is carried out in the actual environment of mobile phone and by the way of frequency reconfigurable technology. The antenna has covered 698MHz-960MHz and 1710MHz-2690MHz frequency band. Result in the measurement shows that the antenna can meet the requirements. Finally, in the end of thesis, the technology of MIMO antenna used in the latest fifth-generation communications is also introduced and analyzed.
