Laser has good monochromaticity, good direction, high brightness and other advantages,so the laser display has a big color gamut range, high color saturation, high brightness and other advantages, laser display has become since the black and white display, color display and digital high-definition display the fourth-generation display technology.Much of many research institutions and industries put much attention on it in recent years,its industrialization process is accelerating. Highly monochromatic laser significantly broadens the display color gamut, but also brings another thorny issue--laser speckle,which will seriously degrade the quality of the displayed image. Suppress or eliminate speckle in the laser display is one of the key technology issues need to be addressed.In this paper, analysis the nature of laser speckle principle and study laser speckle suppression in projection display is the main research content. Specifically, include the following four sections:(1) describes the various types of laser projection display system and the formation,characteristics of the speckle in the projection display system. (2) based on the basic theory of speckle, study the causes of speckle, basic statistical characteristics and the nature of the Gaussian speckle and speckle superposition. (3) in the entire frame laser projection display system,the influence of the diversity of wavelength and angle for the speckle pattern, from reduce the laser coherence and non-related dynamic speckle pattern’s superimposed to suppress laser speckle, analysis the theoretical principles detailed,different experimental apparatus to suppress speckle using different methods,achieve different effects speckle suppression. (4)Analyze the principle of the diffuser for speckle suppression, experiment on vibration diffuser, analyze the relation of speckle suppression and laser beam’s size,proposes a simultaneous laser beam shaping and speckle suppression diffuser design methods, to achieve the shaping of laser and suppression of laser speckle, Simplifies the laser display system while increasing the laser light energy utilization.
