With the increasing living standards, the service requirement of the intelligent service is also higher and higher. Etiquette robot as a service robot, which is often used to service the customer in large and medium-sized hotels, restaurants, shopping malls and amusement park to increase interest in entertainment and is also used to promote scientific knowledge to enrich the cultural life of the people. Etiquette robot has a certain visual, tactile and speech function, can stride walking and waving embrace. This paper is to study the monocular vision system of the etiquette robot, in order to realize the function of face recognition, making the etiquette machine more intelligent and increasing its entertainment. Etiquette robot’s monocular vision system is a system, which based on machine vision. It is also related to artificial intelligence, machine vision, etc. other subjects. Its research and development will promote the development of other disciplines in a certain extent. Therefore, the research and development of this system has a far-reaching significance, not only in practical application value but also in academic research.In the process of studying the monocular visual system of the etiquette robot, I collect the information of the domestic and foreign comprehensively, make more in-depth study on monocular vision and face recognition, and then design the etiquette robot monocular vision system. The main contents of this paper are as follows:1. The overall design of the monocular visual system for the etiquette robot.The function of the robot’s monocular vision system is described, and the overall design scheme is worked out, and the architecture of the system is designed.2. Hardware design of the monocular visual system for the etiquette robotThis paper expounds the working principle of the robot monocular vision system, and then selects each hardware base on the performance requirements of the hardware, and introduces the characteristics of them finally.3. Software design and implementation of the monocular visual system for the etiquette robotThe function chart is drawn base on the functional requirements of the robot monocular vision system and the function of each module is designed and introduced in detail. On the VC++6.0 software platform, we use the OpenCV vision library to finish each module and get the recognition result.At the end of this dissertation, the main research is summarized. It makes out the main innovations and research achievements, and also points out the problems and issues which need to further research.
