With the development of economy and technology, all kinds of newly communicationservices are constantly emerging. The communication capacity is developing rapidly withthe increasing of Internet services. The communication capacity is limited by the electronicspeed bottleneck in traditional optical network. All optical devices and signal processing is apromising solution for the problem in all-optical communication network. And it has becomethe trend and direction in future optical communication network. We will introduce alloptical switches, logic gates, half adder, dispersion compensation and delay lines which areneeded for optical network.The theory of microring resonator including the classification and structure isintroduced. We calculated the transmission equation and function parameter. The nonlinearKerr effect and calculation of the phase shift in microring resonator is also discussed in thisarticle.The patterned microring resonator is proposed by theoretical calculation and FDTDsimulation. We analysed the switch in phase shift, pump power, transmission and contrastratio. The superiority of optical switch is high integration, lower pump power and high speed.We expand the switches to logic gates and other logical operation devices. The calculationand simulation is also completed for our desiged devices,Newly dispersion compensation and delay lines devices based on microring resonator isalso designed in this article. We analysed the structure of waveguide by coupled mode theory.And the dispersion and delay is adjustable in some range. The bandwidth, dispersioncompensation, time delay and ripple are satisfied with the demand of DWDM system. It is apromising devices in future optical network.Our study provides solutions to the ultrafast all optical devices for example switch,logic gates and so on. Meanwhile, it also supports the research for nonlinear effect inmicroring resonator and provides reference for key devices in optical network.
