With the birth of the technology of high-power lasers, which is used in industrialprocesses, medical and military processing process is increasingly important. Especially inindustrial processes, only the laser and flexible transmission system combine can it achievethree-dimensional processing. It involves high-power optical fiber coupling technology, andthe technology has become a vital to limit the transmission power a nd processing. Especiallywhen high power laser beam coupling into optical fiber, if there is any coupling error it willmake the light leakage into the fiber cladding or the beam coupled directly to the fibercladding, resulting in coupling loss or fiber was burned down.Mode stripping technology is one of the important technology on improving jointdisorders resistance loss. Its action principle is handling certain structural or material on thecladding of the fiber. The light due to the coupling error or the quality problem into thecladding is timely and quickly exported to prevent energy accumulation and the fiber burnout. This article first introduces the basic principle of the beginning fiber coupling, and fibercoupling leads to a variety of factors that lead to the coupling error, then create models byTracePro software to simulate the relationship between coupling efficiency and these factors.Then introducing mode stripping technique to simulate the ideal model to calculate thedistance of stripping required of different error conditions, eventually obtained the structureof the optimal stripping, and the corresponding simulated stripping rate.Finally, the optical fiber has mode stripping effect was prepared according to the design.Through the red LD laser and green laser coupling experiments done then correspondingdata obtained,proved fiber stripping functions of the structure also verify the theoreticalsimulation results.
