As an important wide-gap semiconductor, TiO2is widely used in photocatalyticwater splitting, toxic pollutants degradation, solar cell, air purification, self-cleaning glass,et al. in the paper, TiO2nanotubes are used in the field of photocatalytic hydrogenproduction and lithium-sulfur battery cathode materials.The fabrication and characterization of CdSe/CdS/TiO2nanotube-array coaxialheterogeneous structure that has potential applications in photocatalytic water splitting andtoxic pollutants degradation are investigated. CdSe(top)/CdS(under) double-layer isconformally deposited onto TiO2nanotubes by SILAR and ECALD, respectively, for theCdS under layer and the CdSe top layer. Such double sensitized TiO2nanotubularphotoelectrode exhibits significant enhancements in photoconversion efficiency, visiblelight response, and efficient hydrogen generation. The detailed preparation process and thesurface morphology, phase structure, elemental analysis, and photoelectrochemicalproperties of the resulting films with the CdSe/CdS/TiO2nanotube-array coaxialheterogeneous structure are discussed. The photoconversion efficiency of9.47%andhydrogen generation rate of10.24ml/(h·cm2) were observed. Both values are a7-foldenhancement compared with that of the pure TiO2nanotube. The as-preparedphotoelectrode presents potential application for industrialized photocatalytic hydrogengeneration in the future.In the paper, TiO2nanotube arrays are also used as the base materials for the cathodematerials of lithium-sulfur batteries. Polypyrrole (PPy) is polymerized into TiO2NTs byelectrochemical polymerization method and sulfur nano-particles are deposited byelectrochemical deposition method, which results in the formation of coaxialheterostructures. XRD, FESEM, EDAX, TEM,LSV, CV, UV-vis are tested to analysisphase, morphology, elemental distribution of PPy(S)/TiO2NTs. The prepared PPy(S)/TiO2NTs will be used as the cathode material of lithium-sulfur batteries.
